
While the group is engaged in diversified business activities, Macro International Ltd. is mainly concerned in overseas trading. Power, Energy & Communication are the prime area of concentration. The company today has tied up with many international companies who are leaders in their respective fields worldwide. In Power Sector, MIL has been actively working with all major utilities in Bangladesh.
In Power Plant maintenance, Macro is the pioneer in
introducing the cost saving “Refurbished” spares
technology, along with its partners Elbar bv of The
Netherlands and John Brown Engineering U.K. Today
Macro is a trusted name for not only for sourcing of
quality spares but for total rehabilitation and
maintenance of GE frame 5, 6 and 9 gas turbines.
In Power Transmission & Distribution sectors, the
company has undertaken the first integrated
underground cable network project of DESA ‘Greater
Dhaka Power Distribution Project’, implemented in early
eighties, in association with Samsung Corporation and
Taihan Cables of Korea. The first 33Kv submarine cable of
BPDB was also undertaken by Macro through Alcatel
(later Nexans) of Germany. Now MIL is implementing a
number of 132kV and 230kV Transmission Line Projects
of Power Grid Co. of Bangladesh.
The role of MIL is not limited only to support their clients
with quality products & services, but also as a facilitator
in customizing a total project including project financing
from bilateral sources. ‘Greater Khulna Power
Distribution Project’ of BPDB was the first project
implemented under EDCF loan of Government of Korea,
executed by Macro in association with Samsung and
Hyosung of Korea. In continuation thereof, Macro has
strengthened its activity in the communication sector by
supplying 19 numbers M.G Locomotives to Bangladesh
Railway under EDCF loan.
